All dogs and cats in South Plainfield must be licensed.  Animal license renewals are done every January.  New Pets are Licensed throughout
the year.

Borough and State Requirements

Any dog or cat that has attained the age of seven (7) months or which possesses a set of permanent teeth must be licensed.  In order to license
your pet, the animal's rabies shot must be good through November 1st
of the licensing year.

The owner of any newly acquired animal of licensing age or of any animal which attains the licensing age must apply for a license within ten (10)
days
after acquisition or age attainment.

January License Fees for Renewals and New Pets

      Spayed or Neutered Pets           $   11.00
                    Non-Spayed or Neutered Pets     $   14.00                 
                        
A dollar a month late fee will be incurred after January 31st.

Licensing through the Mail

You can license through the mail.  Please include a check for the correct amount (see above) along with a copy of the pet's updated rabies shot and proof of spaying or neutering, if applicable.  Please include a daytime phone number where you can be reached  and self-addressed stamped envelope
