TROOP 125 OFFERS

“BAGS-FOR-BAGS” EXCHANGE

Beginning in September, Boy Scout Troop 125 will be running a “bags-for-bags” exchange at its weekly Monday evening meetings.  Any resident who brings in forty used plastic grocery bags will receive a reusable tote bag free of charge.  The Troop meets at the VFW post at 155 Front Street from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m.

The “Eco-Tote” is large (15”x13”x6”) and strong.  Made of 85% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles, it holds several times the amount of groceries that can fit in a supermarket plastic bag.  This stylish tote, in green and white, has the Borough’s Clean Communities logo on one side.  On the other side is a collection of sayings and quotations sure to inspire environmental enthusiasm.

The used supermarket bags must be empty, clean and without any large tears.  They will be reused as litterbags at the Borough’s volunteer litter cleanups and the schools’ Clean Campus cleanup programs.

This program is sponsored by the South Plainfield Clean Communities Advisory Board.  Offer is good while supplies last.  One exchange per family.  Questions?  Contact the Clean Communities Coordinator at atempel@southplainfieldnj.com or (908)226-7621.
