SOUTH
PLAINFIELD
FUNERAL HOME
RENEWS
ADOPT-A-SPOT CONTRACT
Franklin
Rainear of the South Plainfield James W. Conroy Funeral Home recently renewed his
Adopt-A-Spot agreement with the South Plainfield Clean Business Association for the coming
year. The funeral home will provide litter
removal services along a half-mile stretch of vacant land on New
Market Avenue, from Highland Avenue to Pulaski Street.
New
Market Avenue carries heavy truck and automobile traffic
along a route that combines residential, commercial and industrial sites with stretches of
vacant land. Part of the Boroughs
Highland Woods Nature Reserve fronts on New Market Avenue,
at the stream crossing. Mr. Rainear and his
part-time employees will continue their efforts to keep the roadside litter free.
The
CBA is looking for adopters for additional locations. For more information about the Adopt-A-Spot
program, contact the Clean Communities Coordinator at (908) 226-7621.

SOUTH
PLAINFIELD
BUSINESS
ASSOCIATION
ADOPTS
LAKEVIEW AVENUE OVERPASS
The South
Plainfield Business Association has joined the South Plainfield Clean Business
Associations Adopt-A-Spot program. President
Debra Leporino signed an agreement to remove litter from the Lakeview Avenue Overpass for
the coming year.
This Adopt-A-Spot contract is
an important addition to recent maintenance agreements.
The SPBA will be extending the ongoing fight against litter in the
Boroughs civic center. The Austin Family
is cleaning Plainfield Avenue from Maple to Sampton. Pender and Sons Trucking is picking up in Willow Avenue Park behind
Borough Hall, assisted by periodic visits by the Keystone
Vocational Program litter crew. Panzarella
Contracting is caring for Monument Park and
A-Tech Landscaping is maintaining the Firemens Memorial. Stillman Photography Services is removing litter
from the Cedar Brook where it flows between the Firemans Memorial and Monument Park. The
Lakeview Avenue Overpass is the gateway to this area.
It needs to be well maintained to create a good first impression.
According to Ms. Leporino, the SPBA decided to join the Adopt-A-Spot
program because South Plainfield is a great place to live and work, and
they are looking to get more involved with the community.
She hopes that the adoption will raise awareness of local environmental issues
within the business community, as well as promote general awareness of the Business
Association. Ms. Leporino is following in her
fathers footsteps. Emil Leporino was
chairman of the Clean Communities Advisory Board from its inception in 1987 until his
death, and was a charter member of the SPBA.
