- The Municipal Court has the responsibility to maintain all
traffic,
parking and criminal complaints issued by South Plainfield Police
Officers as well as the State Police and Middlesex Sherrif's
Officers for incidents occurring within the municipality. It is also
a repository for complaints issued by the Board of Health,
Zoning Officer, Fire Inspectors, Consumer Affairs, NJ Sales Tax,
Withholding Tax violations, Environmental and Solid Waste issues
and S.P.C.A. as well as private citizen complaints. It also handles
motions to suppress and search & seizure hearings.

- The Municipal Court accepts complaints, sets bail, issues
arrest
warrants and must be familiar with all statutes and court rules
pertaining to these matters. It is also responsible for handling
and accurately accounting for all moneys collected, maintaining
detailed records and files and the proper disbursement of
these funds at the end of each month.
