SERVICE DIVISION

  The Service Division is commonly referred to as the “Detective Division”. The Service Division is responsible for performing the following tasks: follow-up investigations;  narcotic investigations; surveillances; executing search warrants.

This Division is comprised of a Lieutenant, six detectives, and a secretary.  The Lieutentant, who is the Commander of the entire Division, performs administrative tasks associated with the Division and manages the Internal Affairs function. The Lieutenant, who also serves as immediate supervisor of detective personnel, supervises/coordinates on-going investigations and conducts internal affairs investigations.

The detectives, whose duties are divided into either “general assignment”  or “juvenile”, conduct the follow-up investigations, narcotic investigations, and surveillances, develop informants and intelligence. Although the detectives are crossed trained and are capable of handling a variety of cases, those detectives given the job title of “general assignment” typically conduct investigations associated with adults, while those detectives given the job title of “juvenile” conduct investigations associated with juveniles.
