2012 marks the first year that the School Board Election can be moved from April to November to be a combined election with the General Election.  The Board of Education has decided to make the change to November for their election.

Therefore, the General Election and School Board Election will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.

The Primary Election will be Tuesday, July 7, 2020.

Polls are open from 6:00am til 8:00pm

 Last day to register to vote or to transfer registration for the November General Election is Tuesday, October 13, 2020. Last day to register for the Primary is Tuesday June 16, 2020. For more information regarding the 2020 Primary Election please go to .  The ONLY polling location that will be open from 6 am to 8 pm for the July 7th Primary will be the Senior Center for Provisional Paper Ballot voting ONLY.  No machines will be used. Due to COVID-19 voting by mail is highly encouraged. Vote By Mail Applications can be found in the link below.

Anyone wishing to register to vote MUST:

  • Be a citizen of the United States
  • Be 18 years of age on or before the election day
  • Have resided in the county at least 30 days
  • Register at least 21 days prior to the election

You must re-register if:

  • You move from one county to another
  • You have a name change due to marriage, divorce or Judgement of the Court
  • Any change of address

Voter Registration Application Forms, Mail-In Ballot Applications are available in the Municipal Clerk's Office at 2480 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 or you may access forms online at or see the link below.

Voter Registration Application forms must be completed and mailed to:

or received by the Municipal Clerk twenty-one (21) days before an election to be eligible to vote. The application form is in the link below.

The same form is used by voters who have changed their name or address.

Ballot by Mail Application are required to be completed by those voters who wish to vote by mail-in ballot.  These applications are due in the Middlesex County Clerk's Office seven (7) days before the election.  After that time, voters may go, in person, to the County Clerk's Office and vote, prior to Election Day.

Your polling place will be designated on your sample ballot, which if you are registered to vote in this election, should be received by you approximately 5 days before the election.
