The South Plainfield Historical Society, founded in 1977 as a non-profit 501c3, was established to preserve and disseminate the history of the Borough.
The History Center, located at old Roosevelt School (currently the Board of Education offices at 125 Jackson Avenue), is the headquarters for the society and houses a large collection of photographs, books, memorabilia, antique clothing, maps, oral histories and other items associated with borough history. The Center is open every Tuesday from 2 to 4 pm.
Yearly membership dues are $10.00 single, $15.00 family. Life membership costs $100.00.
Meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month except July and August. The public is invited to attend. Meetings begin at 7pm.
