Matthew P. Anesh 


Elected Mayor in 2010, Matt is 42 years old and has lived in South Plainfield all his life. Mayor Anesh is married with twin sons.  He was elected Councilman in 2005 and 2009 where he served as the Council liaison to the Department of Public Works and later Public Safety. He served as Council President in 2010.  He attended Sacred Heart School, South Plainfield High School and graduated in 1995 from the College of New Jersey with a Bachelors of Science in Economics. He is a Vice President with a Fortune 100 Financial Services Company in NYC.

 Matt is a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, a South Plainfield Junior Baseball coach, CERT member and a member of the Planning Board. Mayor Anesh served on the Public Celebrations Committee from 2005 through 2010. Mayor Anesh was inducted into the South Plainfield Hall of Fame in 2011.  He is a graduate of the South Plainfield High School class of 1990.


Derryck C. White 

Council President Derryck White was first elected to the South Plainfield Council in 2011 and is now beginning his second, three-year term. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Eastern University and is currently a Sales Supervisor for a New Brunswick-based Fortune 200 company.

 He moved to South Plainfield from Edison in 2002 and he and his wife Lisa are parents to Jessica, Alexx and Noah. He is the former liaison to the South Plainfield Board of Education for the Riley School PTSO and a past chair of the school’s annual father-daughter dance. A former recreation soccer and basketball coach and currently coaches for the South Plainfield Soccer Association and South Plainfield Junior Baseball Club. In addition he is an active member of South Plainfield’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

 He chairs the Economic Development Committee and also serves on the Recreations Commission and the Health, Welfare and Environment Committee. In 2010, prior to being elected to the council, he was a member of the Zoning Board of Adjustments.




Alex Barletta 

  Alex is currently serving his second term as Councilman.  After being appointed to then Councilman Anesh's seat in 2011 he was elected in 2012 and 2015. He served as Council President in 2014.  Councilman Barletta is 53 years old and was raised in South Plainfield where he attended the old Grant School (now Keystone), the Middle School and South Plainfield High School.

 Alex has held a variety of management positions and recently opened his own business.  He has coached baseball, teener-ball and basketball in South Plainfield. He is a member of Unico and is a former member of the Knights of Columbus.

 In 2008 Alex was appointed to the Zoning Board of Adjustment and served as vice chairman from 2008-2009.  In 2010 his fellow members elected him chairman, a post he held until his appointment to the Council.

Councilman Barletta  chairs the Department of Public Works Committee and serves on Administration & Finance and Public Safety Committees.



Robert Bengivenga, Jr.  


   Rob is currently serving his 3rd term as councilman. Being first elected Councilman in 2005, Rob then had the honor of serving as Council President in 2008. He was then elected in 2009 to a second term and reelected to his current term in 2012.  Rob is 31 years old and a life long resident of   South Plainfield.

   He attended   Sacred   Heart   School  , The   Wardlaw   Hartridge   School   and graduated in 2004 from The   University   of   Scranton   with a Bachelors of Science in Marketing. He is presently employed by an Environmental company.

  Rob is a member of the Sons of the American Legion Chaumont Post 243, UNICO National and the Italian American Club in   South Plainfield . He attends  Sacred   Heart   Church.

  Councilman Bengivenga chairs the Public Safety Committee and serves on the Administration, Finance, Public Information, Shared Services and Recreation Committees.



Christopher J. "C.J." Diana 


   Elected Councilman in 2012. C.J. is 27years old and a life long resident of South Plainfield.

   He attended John E. Riley Elementary School, South Plainfield Middle School and High School. He  graduated in 2008 from John Jay College of Criminal Justice (City University of New York) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. He is presently employed by Wilentz, Goldman and Spitzer, P., one of New Jersey's leading law firms, where he works as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal.

 Councilman Diana chairs the Health, Welfare & Environment committee and serves on the Public Works and Economic Development committees.

 C.J. was a long-time employee of local restaurant Flanagan's Restaurant & Pub. He and his wife, Courtney live on Leeds Drive.



Robert “Bobby” Richkus

  Elected Councilman in 2013, he is serving his first term. Bobby is 42 years old and a life long resident of South Plainfield.

 Bobby attended Riley School, So. Plfd. Middle School, and graduated So. Plfd. High School. Some of the organizations he has volunteered time, been involved or participated with over the years include the So. Plfd. Soccer Club, So. Plfd. Roma Soccer Club, So. Plfd. Junior Baseball Club, The So. Plfd. Education Foundation, South Plainfield Alliance for Substance Awareness (SPASA), The Elks Lodge #2298, The Italian American Progressive League, the Knights of Columbus Lodge #6203, Our Lady of Czestochowa, and is a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. He also served as an alternate to the Planning Board.

 He has been employed by the South Plainfield Board of Education in various capacities since 1992. He has served as a substitute teacher, full time History and Geography teacher, coach and an administrator. Currently he serves as the assistant principal at Grant School.

 Councilman Richkus Chairs the Recreation Committee and serves on the Office on Aging Advisory Board, Public Celebrations Committee, and the Youth Guidance Council.



Raymond Rusnak 


 Elected Councilman in 2007.  Now serving his 2nd term. Ray is 57 years old and has lived in South Plainfield since 1998. He currently serves as Council President. He has over 30 years of banking,investment and insurance experience.

 Councilman Rusnak chairs the Administration, Finance and Public Information Committee.  He also serves on the Public Safety and Public Works Committees.
