           Transportation Program

The Borough offers a transportation program to our seniors. This is an outreach program that provides free curb-to-curb transportation for essential services such as medical appointments, physical therapy, banking, hairdressers, etc.   We also provide a weekly grocery shopping trip every Wednesday or Thursday morning at 9:00am.

We operate a sixteen (16) passenger mini bus with two (2) wheelchair access and a mini van.   We provide transportation throughout South Plainfield and the surrounding towns of Edison, Plainfield, North Plainfield, Piscataway, Dunellen, Fanwood, and Scotch Plains.

Rides are provided weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 pm.  Rides should be scheduled at least 48 hours to one week in advance.  Medical appointments are given schedule priority.

For more information or to make a reservation for a ride, please call the South Plainfield Senior Center at:
908-754-1047.

          Meals on Wheels

A person aged 60 or older who is homebound by reason of illness, incapacitating disability or is otherwise isolated and does not have the opportunity to consume at least one full meal per day is eligible for Meals on Wheels.

As part of the County Meal Program, we provide a nutritious meal to homebound seniors on either a weekday or 7 day program.  We deliver a hot entree plus milk, juice, bread & butter and fruit. The fair share contribution is $2.75 per day, which helps defray the cost of the program.  To participate, please contact the Office on Aging at

 908 754-1047.

Congregate Meals

Beginning May 5th, the South Plainfield Senior Center has welcomed the Middlesex County Nutrition Program, a program in which meals are prepared daily and served from 11:30  am to 12:15 pm for any seniors aged 60 and older. This program is funded in part by a federal grant and relies on client donations for support. Recommended fair share contribtion is $2.25 per meal. We serve a full-course meal which compromises 1/3 DRI of nutrtional needs. We have a varied menu of tasty entrees.
