Pender and Moore Families Renew Adopt-A-Spot Contract

The Pender and Moore Families are renewing their Adopt-A-Spot contract with the South Plainfield Clean Business Association to remove litter from Willow Park for the next two years. The agreement was suspended last year when the former Skate Park was dismantled to make way for an expanded municipal complex parking lot. The entire parking lot was reconstructed after the public library renovation was finished. Park redevelopment was completed this year with the installation of a tot lot. Ms. Diane Pender immediately contacted the CBA and asked if her family could again begin their litter control efforts in the park, including the new parking lot.

As many as eight family members will pick up litter three times a month. Ms. Pender also intends to monitor the site regularly. She believes it is important to stay on top of the litter problem in these heavily used areas. She and her family feel a great deal of pride in being South Plainfielders, and appreciate the opportunity to give back to the community.

The CBA is looking for more adopters for parks. Cotton Street Park, Putnam Park and Walnut Street Park are available for adoption. For more information about the Adopt-A-Spot program, contact the Clean Communities Coordinator at (908) 226-7621 or e-mail atempel@southplainfieldnj.com.
